Fine and Gross Motor Development

The quality of a child’s fine motor (hands) and gross motor (large muscles) skill development impacts every area of a child’s life. All children have their own strengths and weaknesses in the area of motor skill development and it is not always necessary to address a weakness in therapy. However, for some children, a skill that is slow to develop can be a source of continued frustration or a cause of avoidance of important developmental tasks such as writing, dressing, and participating in sports. At Hand Skill for Children, we strive to find the root cause of a delay in motor skill development, working from the 'bottom up' to help the child experience success and mastery.  Based on assessment results, your Hand Skills' Occupational Therapist, will establish a fun program for your child to develop fine and gross motor skills during one to one intervention.  For an initial assessment please contact us at 647-236-4263.

In addition we offer a variety of group programs throughout the year to address fine and gross motor skills.  This January 2012 we are offering a gross motor program in a group format.  For more information click here!
